Hello! My name is Amber, welcome to my website, Moss and Maple Syrup! I currently live in Alberta, Canada with my family of 4. I am originally from British Columbia, but I moved to Alberta 11 years ago and have been happy here ever since.
I created Moss and Maple Syrup as a way to share my knowledge of camping and campfire cooking. I’ve been camping since I was a little girl when my dad would take me out to Rathtrevor Beach (on Vancouver Island) for camping and playing in the surf. When I graduated Secondary school and got together with my husband Michael, we would take camping trips all summer long throughout the interior of BC and into Alberta. When we had kids we brought them with us, even as little babies, to get them used to hanging around a campfire enjoying the scent of pine. We spend as much time as we can spare on mossy trails in the Rocky Mountains, beside a campfire in one of our many provincial parks, and under the bright stars at the Jasper Dark Sky Preserve. Camping is in our blood. \
But what is the point of camping if we can’t also have good food? I have spent years learning to cook over the coals, over the campfire flame, in foil packs and a skillet. When we camp I feed my family nutritious meals that taste good and fill you up. My kids will complain (loudly, especially my eldest!) if I do not prepare a delicious dish for every single meal (every. single. one.) So please feel free to scroll through my recipes. If you see and make something you like, please let me know!
